About

This blog is about the quest of one family living in the DC metro area to move beyond eco-friendly into the realm of eco-activity. We’ll explore issues and options, challenge assumptions and ideas, share experiences and learnings. Our goal is to inspire other families to do the same by sharing examples from our own lives, resources and tools for making real life change and a source of connection, education and collaboration.

So, what does it mean to be eco-active?

While we’ve long been an eco-friendly family, in recent years we come to realize how much of an impact just one family can have on the environment. It starts with one person and the ripple effect that one person can have can be profound, especially in a family unit.

I’ve always been a “concerned citizen,” but when I became a mother six years ago, the responsibility for living an environmentally conscious life became even more imperative. With three children ages six and under, I’ve raised my consciousness to a whole new level and the kids are active participants.

For us, being eco-active means actively seeking opportunities to have a positive impact on our physical environment and natural surroundings. Conducting research, sharing information and connecting with a larger community are all part of being eco-active. Subscribe to this blog to learn more about one family’s efforts to live more eco-active lives and perhaps embark on a quest of your own.

Enjoy!
